Never have I met someone who joined a club and immediately understood what membership meant. Robert joined our Planning Committee and has already lead his first field trip! And he's preparing another trip already. He's a very pleasant surprise with great ideas, providing input and he's passionate about photography. I'm thrilled that he agreed to present his exceptional photographic work in our Spotlight for August and September.
Now to his story...
"I’ve been involved in photography for many years. I like all aspects of trying to create a unique image that belongs to me.
For the past three years I have spent most of my time photographing people. The challenge for me is pulling together all the separate elements - the model, subject, location, wardrobe, lighting, and theme to create the final image. Working with people, I try to capture their feelings and show their emotions.
I can spend up to an hour just talking to the person before the first photo is taken. I want to know about their life, passions, what gets them going, what their dreams are. The key is to listen. What I like best is the interaction that develops over the course of the shoot.
This is rewarding for me and the person I’m working with. I love to photograph at historic landmarks such as the Elkins Estate, Fonthill, Old Country Inns, Morikami Gardens, The Colony Hotel, the Sundy House and the Wynwood Art District, etc.
Over the past years, I have had advertising images published in magazines, in Focus Philadelphia and I’ve exhibited in several art shows and south Florida galleries. I’m a member of the American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP), Palm Beach Film Association and Palm Beach Photographic Society."
