I have loved photography for as long as I can remember. For me photography was magical in that it captured a moment in time that would never be quite the same again. For my 10th birthday, I received my first camera, a Kodak Brownie with the pop-in bulb for the flash! Photography has certainly changed since those days, and I think my sense of “making” a good photograph rather than "taking” a good photograph has as well, or at least I hope so.
For several years I volunteered as a photographer for the MS Society covering local walks and runs as well as one of their biggest annual events in Philadelphia, “The Preakness at the Piazza”, sponsored by the Young Professionals of Philadelphia. I have also photographed family portraits in Bucks County and at the Jersey shore as well as special events for family parties and at church celebrations. However, I like to think of myself as a travel photographer who loves nature, landscapes, seascapes and architecture.
After retiring from a 26+ year career at Bucks County Community College, my husband and I have been very lucky in that we have been able to travel to Europe, Africa, Central America, the South Pacific as well as throughout the United States, where I am able to capture the beauty of the world through the lens of my camera.
In addition to a BA in Music (piano), and an M.Ed. in Instructional Design, I returned to school at Bucks County Community College after my retirement to earn a Certification in Applied Photography. I learned so much of what I really did not know such as studio lighting, developing film in a darkroom, and working with a tilt-shift lens and large format cameras.
In my personal life, I have been married to my husband Joe for 50+ years. We have three adult daughters, eight granddaughters and three grandsons. They keep us young!
Finally, I look forward to being a member of the club and invite you to check out my website: www.photographybylizsette.com. Under the “About Me” link, you will see a list of Exhibitions and Publications in which I have participated, and awards received.
